چکیده

This study addresses the resource-constrained project scheduling problem with precedence relations, and aims at minimizing two criteria: the makespan and the total weighted start time of the activities. To solve the problem, five multi-objective metaheuristic algorithms are analyzed, based on Multi-objective GRASP (MOG), Multiobjective Variable Neighborhood Search (MOVNS) and Pareto Iterated Local Search (PILS) methods. The proposed algorithms use strategies based on the concept of Pareto Dominance to search for solutions and determine the set of non-dominated solutions. The solutions obtained by the algorithms, from a set of instances adapted from the literature, are compared using four multi-objective performance measures: distance metrics, hypervolume indicator, epsilon metric and error ratio. The computational tests have indicated an algorithm based on MOVNS as the most efficient one, compared to the distance metrics; also, a combined feature of MOG and MOVNS appears to be superior compared to the hypervolume and epsilon metrics and one based on PILS compared to the error ratio. Statistical experiments have shown a significant difference between some proposed algorithms compared to the distance metrics, epsilon metric and error ratio. However, significant difference between the proposed algorithms with respect to hypervolume indicator was not observed. Fig 1 Click here to download high resolution image

A multi-objective resource-constrained project scheduling problem with time lags and fuzzy activity durations

The resource-constrained project scheduling problem is to find a schedule that minimizes the project duration subject to precedence relations and resource constraints. To further account for economic aspects of the project, one may add an objective of cash nature to the problem. In addition, dynamic nature and variations in real world are known to introduce uncertainties into data. Therefore, t...

Modified Pareto archived evolution strategy for the multi-skill project scheduling problem with generalized precedence relations

In this research, we study the multi-skill resource-constrained project scheduling problem, where there are generalized precedence relations between project activities. Workforces are able to perform one or several skills, and their efficiency improves by repeating their skills. For this problem, a mathematical formulation has been proposed that aims to optimize project completion time, reworki...

A multi-objective resource-constrained optimization of time-cost trade-off problems in scheduling project

This paper presents a multi-objective resource-constrained project scheduling problem with positive and negative cash flows. The net present value (NPV) maximization and making span minimization are this study objectives. And since this problem is considered as complex optimization in NP-Hard context, we present a mathematical model for the given problem and solve three evolutionary algorithms;...

A Genetic Algorithm and a Model for the Resource Constrained Project Scheduling Problem with Multiple Crushable Modes

Abstract: This paper presents an exact model and a genetic algorithm for the multi-mode resource constrained project scheduling problem with generalized precedence relations in which the duration of an activity is determined by the mode selection and the duration reduction (crashing) applied within the selected mode. All resources considered are renewable. The objective is to determine a mode, ...

Optimizing a bi-objective preemptive multi-mode resource constrained project scheduling problem: NSGA-II and MOICA algorithms

The aim of a multi-mode resource-constrained project scheduling problem (MRCPSP) is to assign resource(s) with the restricted capacity to an execution mode of activities by considering relationship constraints, to achieve pre-determined objective(s). These goals vary with managers or decision makers of any organization who should determine suitable objective(s) considering organization strategi...
